Allergies?
This may not seem like information you would disclose to your therapist but believe me, its important. On my intake form I ask if your allergic to anything. The reason we ask is because of the oils we use. I do not use nut based oils but I do occasionally use essential oils and if you have an allergy, please let me know ahead of time. Thanks.

Getting the most out of your massage!
Be sure you arrive prepared to be an active participant in your session. Arrive a few minutes early to fill out the necessary paperwork and to start getting into the relaxation mode. Start taking some deep breaths. Clear your mind as much as possible. Ask questions. Let me know if at any time you are uncomfortable. Last but not least, relax!!

Have you had your massage this month?
Spring is around the corner but still hasn't quite made its way to Cedar. In fact, today, it was cold and blizzard like weather. March is here! Has it been a while since you've had your massage? I have added some services that might do the trick. Introductory hot stones on your back, neck, and shoulders. Ending with a hot towel wrap around your feet. Ahhh! Come in from the cold and relax your worries away.

I am NCBTMB Certified
For practitioners, NCBTMB certification is much more than a credential. It’s the cornerstone of a successful career. Because even if you work in a state that does not require certification, the NCBTMB credential establishes you as a dedicated professional with the knowledge and skills to uphold high standards of excellence. To become certified, a massage therapist or bodyworker must:
•Complete a minimum of 500 hours of instruction
•Demonstrate mastery of core skills, abilities and knowledge
•Pass a standardized NCBTMB exam
•Uphold NCBTMB’s Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
•Complete continuing education for recertification
And the benefits are immeasurable, national certification:
•Represents the highest standard in the field
•Communicates a commitment to safe, ethical practice
•Provides a competitive edge
•Gains visibility and credibility
•Increases employment opportunities within/between states
•Allows reimbursement by some insurance companies
•Reassures clients and employers
•Includes a listing in NCBTMB’s Find a Practitioner resource
•Establishes practitioners as healthcare providers on par with other professionals requiring certification

Stretching And Massage
Many people are unaware of the beneficial role that massage can play in both strength training and flexibility training. Massaging a group of muscles, or a single muscle, immediately prior to performing stretching or strength exercises for those muscles, has some of the following benefits:
increased blood flow
The massaging of the muscles helps to warm-up those muscles, increasing their blood flow and improving their circulation.
removal of metabolic waste
The massaging action, and the improved circulation and blood flow which results, helps to remove waste products, such as lactic acid, from the muscles. This is useful for relieving post-exercise soreness.
relaxation of the massaged muscles
The massaged muscles are more relaxed. This is particularly helpful when you are about to stretch those muscles. It can also help relieve painful muscle cramps.
Because of these benefits, you may wish to make massage a regular part of your stretching program: immediately before each stretch you perform, massage the muscles you are about to stretch.

Enjoy $10 off your next session!
Thank you Quilters!
Had a blast at the 2010 Quilters Guild last weekend. There were alot of very talented ladies and gentlemen. I was doing chair massages on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Friday was definatly the busiest day. From 2-11pm there was a steady flow of of people who had been working hard in their classes and needed their muscles worked around the neck, back and shoulders. Look forward to seeing you all next year.

Preventative Maintenance
How long do you think your car will go without an oil change? Your body is similar to your car. If you aren't maintaining it properly it could lead to disaster in the long run. Therapeutic massage is being recognized as a recharge or tune-up for your body, mentally, physically and spiritually. Studies show that regular massages can prevent more serious health challenges later on in life. How often should you get a massage? I recommend at least once per week for the first month, then once per month. This time period may vary due to injuries. Please contact your health care provider if you have been involved in an accident.

Pregancy Pampering and More
Attention to all you expecting moms. This table is the only way to get your next massage. It is so comfortable to lie on your stomach and now you can. At least during your massage. I have been asked to rent it out but unfortunatly I'm pretty attached to it. It makes my job so much easier. No more worries about being exposed because of improper draping. Your stomach protrudes through a hole in the table which can be adjusted so you can get a massage throughout your pregancy. How sweet is that? Plus those inserts at the top are for those ladies with larger chests. Come check it out!
